MLK Event at the College of Engineering

Friday, January 23 at 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm
Seamans Center, 1505 SC
103 South Capitol Street, Iowa City, Iowa

There will be an informal reception with refreshments followed by a presentation given by a faculty member that we honor for their dedication to diversity at Iowa. This year our Speaker is Dr. Maggie Tomova from the department of Mathematics.  Her talk is entitled "Finding Inspiration in the work of Dr. King".  Dr Tomova writes "It has been over 50 years since the March on Washington and yet the work of Dr. King remains relevant today. In this talk we will take a tour of some famous quotes by the Civil Right Leader. I will share personal stories from the daily life of my single-gender, multiracial family and talk about my work with low income high school students."
